Half the air in a given space! Curator Trevor Smith wades in to Martin Creed’s Work No. 329. We’re just days away from PlayTime and we can’t wait to share the exhibition with you. #Repost @presenttense99 ・・・ NowHere (balloons) with the snow blowing in we’ve had to delay the opening of #pemplaytime by 24 hours… but can’t wait to share the work of @martin_creed with you! Thanks to @renniecollect for the loan of this fantastic work in which exactly half the air in a given space is enclosed in 16” pink balloons. It was fun watching the team from Baloonatics fill the room. It took about four hours and we can’t wait to welcome you! One stitch closer! Curator Trevor Smith offers a glimpse of the installation for Sweater, pink by Erwin Wurm (@erwinwurm). #Repost @presenttense99 with @get_repost ・・・ NowHere (handwork) the end of a long installation week with much accomplished. A lot of detail work goes into a final product that appears crisp and inevitable (as one mentor put it to me many years ago). Here Johanna Lakner from @erwinwurm studio puts the finishing touches to Sweater – a piece of clothing made for architecture. @pemplaytime #pemplaytime @peabodyessex #peabodyessexmuseum #knit

Trevor Smith, PEM’s Curator of the Present Tense, offers a look at the installation process for PlayTime artist Angela Washko’s video game–based work. Just a few weeks until opening! #pemplaytime #Repost @presenttense99 with @get_repost ・・・ NowHere (digital dirt) For #pemplaytime @peabodyessex @angelawashko has produced an installation that is an overview of the works that she produced inside of #worldofwarcraft from 2012-2017. This week the installers came to lay down the floor for the installation which is derived from the landscape in the game itself. While we are presenting a contained immersive installation, I greatly admire how #angelawashko produced her work inside the game itself. At Its peak WoW had some 10 million active players. Museum visitation is not this large of course, but can be great places for reflection and for playful engagement with complex realities. #peabodyessexmuseum @pemplaytime

The fun is pouring in! Assistant curator Lydia Gordon (@lydslovesart_) shares details on the shiny new board game that arrived from PlayTime contributor and game designer Nashra Balagamwala. What new board games are you playing? #Repost @lydslovesart_ with @get_repost ・・・ Thank you @nashrabalagamwala for sending us a copy of “Arranged!” a board game that offers participants an opportunity to confront the struggles of an arranged marriage. An incredibly beautiful object in and of itself, the game and its quick witty tone negotiates play with a very real issue. Arranged marriage remains prevalent in many South-Asian societies. #pemplaytime @pemplaytime @peabodyessex

A behind-the-scenes look at conservation work for PlayTime from curator Trevor Smith. A detail of the reverse side of Agustina Woodgate’s work Royal, 2010, stuffed animal toy skins, Collection of Alan Kluger and Amy Dean. #Repost @presenttense99 ・・・ NowHere (care bears) When work is lent to @peabodyessex or another museum we have a duty of care to ensure that the work is returned to the owner in the same condition we received it. Sometimes, as is the case with the “rugs” made from eviscerated teddy bears that Agustina Woodgate (@lawoodgate) is showing in @pemplaytime the conservation team need to consider how the work is to be hung. Sewing reversible fabric tabs onto the hanging edge ensures that the work will not be unduly distorted or torn by its own weight when it is hung from clips. #pemplaytime #peabodyessexmuseum
